The language of now and the future

languages
Language is the main mechanism that makes communication between people possible. And even in an era when technology provides access to use any language at the touch of a finger, certain nuances remain. Language barriers still exist and, true to their name, are a major obstacle to accessing the world's pool of information.

It is no surprise that the largest number of people in the world speak English. As of 2023, there are more than 1.5 billion English speakers and approximately 380 million native ones. It follows naturally that it is considered an international language. According to a study by W3Techs, 51.2% of websites in the world contain content in English. It is followed by Spanish (5.6%), German (5%), and Japanese (4.5%).

With the help of the English Company (UK), a forecasting model was developed to study the relative status of world languages and make predictions about the number of speakers of different languages based on demographic, economic, and human development data – Engco. According to it, the 5 most spoken languages in 2050 will be Chinese, Spanish, English, Hindi, and Arabic.
