Tesla will demonstrate its robotaxi development on August 8, CEO Elon Musk said in a post on the X social network.

Back in 2015, Elon Musk told shareholders that Tesla cars would achieve “full autonomy” within three years. In 2016, he said that by the end of next year, Tesla would be able to launch one of its cars on a cross-country trip without a human driver.

However, Tesla has not yet created a robot taxi, self-driving car, or technology that can transform its cars into “level three” automated vehicles. However, Tesla already offers advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), including a standard autopilot option or a premium full self-driving option, FSD, the latter of which costs $199 per month for US subscribers or $12,000 upfront.
